Nespelem Safeway store manager Les Federman is "thrilled" to hear that Dorothy Olson will be spending some quality time in his town. "With her experience, we're likely to crack that $21,000 day sometime soon," said a beaming Federman, shortly after ringing up local resident Myrna Miller and her $45.35 worth of groceries.
Other store employees are similarly happy about the news. "She's from one of those big stores, I think, and someone told me she once waited on Lou Gossett Jr., which makes me think that she can handle the locals here just fine."

A dozen maple bars will go to the first one who remembers which semi-famous singer went through Mom's checkout line at Safeway in P.T...anyone?
Tony Bennett (or was that who stayed at Port Ludlow one time...).
Justin Timberlake?
Just remembered...not a singer. An actor. Anthony Newly! Right?
Amazing memory.
Actually, he was a singer and an actor.
Here's a selection from his Wikipedia entry - I edited most of the non-interesting stuff out.
"He was first diagnosed with renal cell cancer in 1985, and had one kidney removed. The cancer returned in 1997, this time attacking his lungs, then spreading to his liver."
From Mom (via Sarah):
It was Lou Gossett, Jr.
