Dad Saves Another School District

Here is the article I found online. Great work Dad!

The Thorp School District has begun searching for an interim superintendent to fill a void left by the recent departure of former principal/superintendent James Hainer.

"We would invite anyone in house or out to apply for the job," said acting Thorp Superintendent Lloyd Olson.

Olson is a retired superintendent and consultant from Cle Elum. He hopes the search will be completed within at least a few weeks, and he plans to step down once a replacement is found.

Sally Nelson is the interim principal at the school.

The hiring procedure was discussed at a Tuesday night regular meeting of the Thorp School Board. Olson said a permanent superintendent would be sought after an interim is in place for the rest of this year.

The superintendent position opened following the resignation of former superintendent James Hainer. Hainer was placed on administrative leave in August following a parent complaint about comments made to a student. The board reinstated Hainer on Sept. 19, but Hainer resigned Monday in the wake of student and parent objections.

"I would say that we're doing very well," Olson responded when ask whether the leadership changes had affected education in the district. "The youngsters are coming to school, and they're just wonderful, so is the staff, so we're doing fine."

Red Top Mountain

Hiked up to Red Top Mountain this weekend with Mom (and a little Polish girl).

 At first it was level...

But then it was steep...

We stopped for a bathroom break...
And made it to the top!  Woo hoo!  5,000 ft!

Nice job, Mom & Buster!
